Dear America,

A vote for McCain/Palin '08 is a vote for:

- Neverending war, and all of its ramifications including an increasing deficit and more wounded/dead/psychologically damaged American soldiers, not to mention countless innocent people dying/suffering across the world
- Even more loss of our natural spaces
- Offshore drilling which at best would have the capacity to drop gas prices $0.02 in ten years from now and will leave our beaches slick with oil and full of toxins
- The loss of rights for women to have abortions even in cases of rape & incest
- In all likelihood, the loss of your right to read what you want
- In all likelihood, the loss of unimaginable amounts of civil liberties
- A vice-president whose idea of fun is chasing down wolves in airplanes until they collapse and then hopping out to shoot them in the face
- A president and VP that think Americans are stupid enough to believe that Obama wants your kids to learn about sex before they learn to read (in reality, the "comprehensive sex-ed" he was for was actually about teaching kindergarteners about inappropriate touching from adults. What does this mean? McCain/Palin think pedophiles should have the "freedom" to molest your children! Change! USA! USA!)
- Many, many more unimaginable atrocities that I dare not even dream up

If you still want to vote for the cheerleader who blew her way to the top and her crotchety old grandfather, be my guest! I'll be in Guatemala.

Hil's Heart

One of my best friends is currently in New York. Tomorrow morning, at 6:30 am est, she will have open heart surgery to repair her mitral valve.

I wish I could summon the wherewithal to write beautiful words about her spirit, her kindness, her genuine love of life, her generosity, her laughter, her ability to touch others . . . it won't come out right. I'm just sad & stuck thinking of how unfair it is.

I can't wait until it's over. But for her, it's never over. The surgery will be complete, but she will always have a scar over her heart reminding her that sometimes life is just plain fucking unfair.

(I'm hugging you hard from all the way over here, Hilz.)

The First One

Hello there, world. Welcome to my first post.

I've thought long & hard about what I would bitch about here on this firstie. There are, unfortunately, far too many options. Sarah Palin? Climate change? Having left my homeland as a young child and not being able to safely return? The demise of tribe.net? My most recent failed relationship? Entitled people?

Instead, I've decided to bitch about the plethora of things to bitch about. The world is a fucked up place, and the simple fact that so much is wrong with it is tragic on its own. I wish I was as compelled to create a blog about things I love; alas, I am currently consumed with what is wrong with this cancerous, globular mess we call home.

The planet is baking, doused in chemicals, and has weird deposits of plastic and otherwise toxic trash in rapidly growing pockets all over the place. People are rude, crude, & unjust. A lot of people are starving, broke, struggling to make ends meet, and at the mercy of the few who are loaded and livin' large, not giving an eff about you. My relationship has just come to an end, which angers me, yet is also a symptom of a culture that promotes individualism, easy answers, and immediate gratification. Politics is a sham in the United States, the country in which I currently reside & which sadly plays a huge role in the state of the whole rest of the world. War is neverending. Breast milk is the most toxic edible substance we've got. Everything is fueled by greed, and I feel like Sisyphus here . . . in the meantime, we turn to gossip about who Jessica Simpson is dating now, just to forget about it all.

It's a sad state, folks. And I'm here to ceaselessly bitch about it.
